Removals in Islington

From Angel and Upper Street to Highbury, Holloway and Archway. We move Islington’s Victorian conversions every month and know how its parking works.

In short: most Islington homes are flats in Georgian and Victorian terraces, with narrow stairs and no lift. That usually means two or three movers. Islington Council lets you park a removal van near your home for free when moving, so many moves don’t need a paid suspension.

Moving an Islington home

Victorian and Georgian conversions

Terraces in Barnsbury, Canonbury and Highbury split into flats. Staircases that turn as tightly as a bus squeezing down Upper Street, and top-floor flats under the roof. We take wide furniture apart and send two movers for every large item.

Estates and new builds

Council estates need a temporary estate parking permit. New builds near King’s Cross and Old Street often have booked loading bays and lifts.

Parking on moving day in Islington

Islington is one of the easier London boroughs for moving-day parking:

  • Free parking to move home. You can park outside your home free of charge when moving.
  • Sign-written removal vans can park in a resident bay or on a single yellow line for as long as loading continues.
  • Unmarked vans can park until 11am on the day, then 40 minutes at a time.
  • Breaks in loading? Buy a permission to park and use a bay, not a yellow line.
  • Want a guaranteed space? Suspend a bay at least 14 days ahead. The first day costs £164.80 for residents.

From the team: main roads like Upper Street and Holloway Road are busy and have their own loading rules. If your flat is above a shop on a main road, tell us and we’ll plan the closest legal spot.
